Hello!...from our new Home!

staying salty blog military life

Hey y'all!  Oh my goodness, I feel like it has been forever since I have written.  Honestly, we've had internet in our home for the past week and a half, but I just haven't been able to "find" the time to post.  I hope you all are doing well, and I can't wait to start catching up on your lives.

I never want this blog to seem like a forced thing, to feel the pressure to write a certain amount of posts in a certain time frame.  I have found myself over the past few days thinking "man, I used to blog...I guess I don't do that anymore?...".  The truth is I have been spending a significant amount of time seeking to discern where God wants me to be in this season.  I recently quit my job, got my awesome husband back from deployment, moved into a home with more space than we know what to do with, and am steady meeting amazing people through ministry and military spouse get-togethers. I also eat ice cream every night. Life is great, y'all.

What I feel God reveal to me more and more though is that regardless of how great life can be, my ultimate fulfillment comes from being where He would have me.  Apart from that, life is just kind of "blah".  So, I don't know where I was going with this other than, God has recently instilled in me a deeper desire to seek His face in how I spend my time, and in the relationships I am making here at our new duty station.

I really like the military.  (other than deployments of course)  I've really enjoyed meeting the spouses of the soldiers working with Jon.  It's super cool to be forming bonds with them as our spouses do the same in the workplace.  I'm also thankful for the fellowship that God has provided Jon and I with since we arrived.  I guess our largest prayer currently is to be used by God, to hear His voice and know where He wants us.

Love you guys!  Hoping to "find" the time to write more soon.

ps--I experimented with a paleo Pinterest recipe tonight that totally rocked our world.  I've gotta share it with y'all asap.

  1. My continual prayer is Lord, keep me desperate for You. . .so many things can distract from our main purpose of loving God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and loving my neighbor as myself -- not just busy-ness, but discontent, worry, fear. Having a singular, God-ward focus is the way to peace

  3. I was just catching up on your most recent posts! I am so looking forward to being done with our long distance and ready to move to Washington to join my fiance that I can't imagine the relief you must feel when a deployment ends (at least I know my guy is safe in the US). Excited for you two and your new home. I am also really excited about meeting the other spouses and finding a community out there. If you ever find yourself PCSing to the West Coast let me know!
